Croissances

The wind seems to accompany these branches tossed about. And water snakes through the furrows that hug the slopes. Nature does things well and forges makeshift paths whenever needed. But from what distance ought these works from the Croissances series be observed? You can see the designs that dig through the earth or the stone walls skirting around hills and ravines. Each little gathering of droplets is a story. Here, the rustle of leaves is now the whisper of forests. You need a child’s gaze to imagine the story the paintbrush has woven. You can glimpse the drapery of Greek statues, hair fluttering in the breeze and everything the wind can wrap in a subtle caress. There are a thousand stories in a simple look and strange, meandering tracks on the ground suggest the passage of animals. Birds invited on the canvas no doubt. G.H
